The 21st century face of Bolshevism

Cheltenham´s Tory-dominated licensing department has banned the town´s largely English taxi drivers from flying the St. George´s flag from their cabs.

The Borough Council´s licensing department has told cabbies that the ban is for reasons of safety. However insiders say the real reason is that the flying of St. George´s flags, which has become endemic in the build up to the World Cup, is thought to be offensive to certain minority community groups who associate the "crusader emblem" with a certain "right-wing political party"! This is something that Council representatives deny. Curiously the Council ban only applies to the flying of England´s St. George's flag - the display of other flags, Pakistan´s star and crescent moon for instance, is not specifically banned!
