"Whiles in the early winter eve we pass amid the gathering night some homestead that we had to leave years past; and see its candles bright shine in the room beside the door where we were merry years agone but now must never enter more, as still the dark road drives us on. E'en so the world of men may turn at even of some hurried day and see the ancient glimmer burn across the waste that hath no way; then with that faint light in its eyes a while I bid it linger near and nurse in wavering memories the bitter-sweet of days that were."
I do not beleive that a soldier taken should be described as "kidnapped" he is a prisoner.
However, a kid who is hitchiking who is taken and who is shot in the head has been kidnapped and murdered.
Same goes for those who grab diplomats and behead them and are wrongfully called"insurgents".
You must also note that when Hamas, or Islamic Jihad members are taken by Israel, their whereabouts are known, and they are not summarily executed while in custody.
The situation the Middle East however is one of a weak nation besieged by an infinitely more powerful nation. A soldier captured by Israel is not going to be "rescued" by sophisticated, well-armed helicopters, supported by high-tech jet aircraft, surrounded by dozens of the M-1 Abrams tanks.
It is known as asymetrical warfare.
Nevertheless as your post implies - they are very different peole than we are - frightfully so. It makes me wonder about those among us who think we should have open borders. Are these people really being benificent to poor foreigners - or being hateful to the largely Christian grass-roots Americans. I have come to believe the latter.
